Gratitude & Our GE Gratitude Exercise

Gratitude seems to be a simple concept; at least at first glance.  That is until we take a deeper look into the concept by examining how it impacts individuals in our society. Gratitude is defined as “ the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” Okay, that sounds easy enough, right! A person shows gratitude when they are thankful or show appreciation for something or maybe even someone.  Yes, this is true, but gratitude has more layers to its application than that example alone.

We have so much in today’s society and still many of us still lack basic gratitude. Think about it. When you woke up this morning, did you instantly think, “hey, what am I grateful for?” If you are a part of that group of people that fails to show gratitude every morning, don’t feel bad, because almost all of us have taken too many things for granted on any given day. We need to take more time out of our days and smell the GRATITUDE!  You know why, because gratitude just feels better.

Here is a little exercise that will change your life. Every morning when you wake up, close your eyes or look at the ceiling and recite 5 things that you are grateful for. Don’t worry, if you can’t think of 5 think of 2, and if you can’t think of 2 think of 1. Oh and if you can’t think of 1, I’ll give you one…. YOU’RE ALIVE!!!! This alone is an undervalued asset in today’s society and we need to be aware of it. If you are alive today in the most technological human civilization in modern recorded history, you should be FREAKIN GRATEFUL!

Now back to this exercise. Recite in your mind or aloud 5 things you are grateful for every morning for 30 days and then contact me through our e-mail and tell me how your life and experiences have changed. I challenge any of you to do this and not be a happier person. OK KIDS, now let’s give it a try and see where it takes us.

Much Love & Respect,

Coach Clint
